Mikimeal
The homemade meal delivery service for office workers
Mikimeal is a project based in Taipei, Taiwan, offering a delivery service for homemade, healthy, and balanced meals primarily aimed at office workers.
The Context: Lunch Break in Taiwan
In Taiwan, lunch is often a 'Biàndang' (lunchbox or bento), a meal consisting of rice, 3 to 4 different vegetables, and a protein. This type of meal is appreciated for its practicality, affordability, and relatively healthy nature.
However, some find these lunchboxes to be too greasy or containing excessive additives. Many would prefer a similar meal prepared in a healthier and more balanced way.
The Concept Behind Mikimeal
Mikimeal connects individuals cooking homemade meals with office workers who usually rely on nearby restaurants for their meals.
To ensure the quality and safety of the meals, all partner cooks must comply with strict hygiene standards and undergo tests in accordance with Taiwanese legislation.
How the Service Works
Cooks' Planning
Partner cooks provide a list of dishes they will offer, along with available quantities, for the next five days.
Customer Orders
Customers select their preferred dishes for the week via the Mikimeal mobile app and confirm their order.
Order Management
Mikimeal receives the orders, informs the cooks, and provides them with details of the dishes to prepare for the following day.
Delivery
Delivery personnel collect the orders from the cooks (one trip per cook) and deliver them directly to various offices.
Mikimeal: A Reinvented Lunch Break
This project combines innovation, flexibility, and practicality to meet the needs of employees looking for healthy, homemade meals. It also provides an opportunity for cooking enthusiasts to share their skills while contributing to healthier and more local eating habits.
